The problem
Sweating is one of the ways that the body regulate’s it’s temperature. We all sweat when we are hot or after exercise. However, sweating for no apparent reason (i.e. when you aren’t particularly hot or haven’t exercised) can occur.
Excess sweating (hyperhydrosis) may be due to an underlying medical condition (e.g. hyperthyroidism, menopause or due to some medications). It can be isolated to specific areas or affect the entire body.
Botulinum Toxin injections are a very effective way of treating excessive sweating. They can be injected into the axillary area (armpits) and or forehead region (including the hairline) to reduce the amount of sweating in these areas.
